For Men Only – 5 Ways to Level up Your Professional Experience 967 1024 admin

Suddenly the world of work has shifted. How we show up, our interactions, our virtual presence, and overall productivity has changed. Couple this with the emergent needs to integrate our life, to navigate the political climate and the scrutiny for men in our work interactions/behaviors can be daunting. While it may seem impossible and at times overwhelming, there are ways to “Level UP Your Professional Experience“.

The following are 5 ways to create a more rewarding professional experience.

Level I – Focus on Self-Awareness and Self-Leadership – Data supports that individuals who demonstrate Emotional Intelligence, perform better. Self-awareness is a topic many individuals want/need to develop. It all starts with understanding your character. Developing self-awareness lies in our character strengths, our values, and our personality. To develop self-awareness, you must be intentional and open to exploring your strengths and opportunities for development.

Level II – Understand Your Value. It is easy to find yourself busy at work, yet wondering if all this activity is leading anywhere. Seventy-one percent of American workers are “not engaged” or “actively disengaged” in their work, according to Gallup. You don’t have to be part of that statistic! While most people are working for the weekend, learn the questions that turn your job into a pursuit of value and give you a renewed sense of accomplishment, engagement, and the chance to show your worth.

Level III – Communicate Effectively and Efficiently. The changing landscape requires us to be more efficient and effective in our communication. Learning how to say what needs to be said at the right time and in the right way in both 1-on-1 and group situations, is critical in achieving effective communication. Effective communication requires that we create memorable moments where others remember, repeat, and respond to you.

Level IV – Focus on Performance by Maximizing Productivity Cycles. Mediocrity is often a state of mind and is exacerbated by culture which creates social norms without considering the impact of individualism. Those who move from mediocrity to maximum have significantly higher levels of self-awareness than those around them. It is an improbable task to achieve your highest state of effectiveness without unveiling the subconscious drivers of behavior and thought.

Level V – Living an Integrated Life in 2020. Contrary to popular belief, men struggle with work/life balance and creating an integrated lifestyle. As we manage the COVID pandemic, sheltering in place, and limiting our out of the home activities, you must create a structured plan to manage work, family, self-care, and incorporating virtual learning. Integrated Life can be stressful for men, especially those who typically compartmentalize their activities. Understanding and creating stress mitigators are at the cornerstone of integrated living.
